SLCC revalidated as member of the Ombudsman Association
The SLCC is a complaint handler member of the Ombudsman Association (OA), a professional association for UK and other ombudsman schemes. All members of the Association must meet its criteria of independence, fairness, effectiveness, openness, transparency, and accountability.
The Ombudsman Association regularly carries out checks on whether members comply with these criteria and with its principles of good governance. It carried out a thorough review of the SLCC’s work in 2025 and confirmed revalidation of the SLCC as a complaint handler member on 30 September 2025.
Commenting on the revalidation, SLCC Chair, Jane Malcolm, said, “Membership of the Ombudsman Association brings additional external scrutiny as well as significant learning and support for our organisation.
“We are committed to continuous improvement and benefit hugely from engagement with the Ombudsman Association’s networks, its community and events. We welcome this timely revalidation, not least as we drew on insights from other Association members to inform our input to the recent debate on reform of the legal services complaints system. This was invaluable in making the case for reforms that we saw working well in complaint schemes in other sectors and jurisdictions.
“Revalidation by the Association is a key part of our preparation to implement the changes that the new legislation will bring, giving the public and the legal profession confidence in our processes and governance.”
