Budget consult 2010-2011
The Scottish Legal Complaints Commission has announced its budget proposals for 2010/2011. This will be the SLCC’s third budget for its second full year of operation.
The Commission opened for business on 1 October 2008 and although operating wholly independently of the legal profession, it is funded by legal practitioners in Scotland through the payment of an annual levy and charges imposed when a complaint is upheld.
Guidance and Rules
The SLCC has issued its first Guidance to the professional bodies to ensure legal firms tell their clients about the SLCC at the earliest opportunity and also notified them of a change to the SLCC Rules.
SLCC ready to meet demands of new Bill
The SLCC welcomes the publication of the Legal Services (Scotland) Bill and is ready to develop its own role in handling complaints against members of the new regulatory bodies.
Research report published
SLCC commissioned research into the Scottish Solicitors' Master Policy and Guarantee Fund was published on 13 July 2009.
Carried out by Manchester University School of Law, the research enables the SLCC to develop its oversight role of the Master Policy and Guarantee Fund.

Budget Laid before Parliament
