SLCC launches consultation on a reduced levy for 2022-23
The SLCC has opened the consultation on its budget and operating plan for 2022-23. The consultation proposes a 5% reduction in the levy for solicitors, advocates and commercial attorneys.* This is the second year running the SLCC has proposed a reduction in the general levy for all lawyers.

This is the second year running the SLCC will deliver a reduction in the general levy, and the proposal was welcomed by the Law Society of Scotland in its response to the SLCC’s statutory consultation.

As part of its oversight role the SLCC monitors complaints and identifies trends in practice, in relation to how practitioners deal with complaints and the subject of those complaints. Research into Complaint Numbers and Practitioners' Handling of Complaints
In June 2012, TNS BMRB produced two reports following research commissioned by the SLCC. Specifically, the research looked at complaint numbers and the methods adopted by practitioners (both solicitors and advocates) in how they handle complaints made against them.
