We asked for your views on our operating plan and budget for 2019/20.
We are funded by a levy paid by legal professionals operating in Scotland. Under the terms of the Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007, we are required to consult with the professional organisations about our proposed budget for the next financial year. Following the consultation, the budget will be agreed and then laid before the Scottish Parliament.
The consultation has now closed and we have published the responses below. The consultation proposed a shift to a new funding model, freezing costs for the majority of lawyers, and moving the focus onto legal businesses rather than individuals.
Key themes from the responses are being considered. The final decision of the SLCC’s Board on budget will then be laid before the Scottish Parliament.
