Salary band:£17,852 - £19,843 (starting at £17,852, an annual spine point increase will be applied, subject to satisfactory performance)

Working hours:Full time-35 hours per week

Job summary

As an Administration assistant you will work as part of a team to provide general administrative support to the various busy teams within the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission.

What you’ll do

You will assist with logging and opening incoming mail, as well as scanning and copying.  You will provide support for teams through typing, transcription, and filing.  The role is important in helping us to keep accurate paper and electronic case files, and to track information and data (using checklists and spreadsheets).  Your IT skills (especially around Microsoft packages) will support you in preparing documents, templates and correspondence.  This role also assists with covering reception and the welcoming of visitors, and assisting with meeting room set-up and replenishment.  You will assist with other administrative tasks as required.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team.  Attention to detail and accuracy are important, as is the ability to manage your time and to prioritise between different tasks.  We have a professional but friendly and relaxed culture, and you should enjoy helping other people and delivering good internal customer service within that environment.   You should enjoy being busy, and be motivate to work in an environment delivering an important public role. 

Your background

We need to know you have the skills to perform the role, but are very open to how you demonstrate that experience to us. 

We believe this is a great opportunity for someone looking to start out in general office administration.  You may be able to demonstrated skills from school or college work, from volunteering, or from hobbies.

You may also have some office experience, but be looking to develop into a professional, legal or regulatory environment providing support to more complex work.  

Essential criteria include:

  • Good written English
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Filing, printing and scanning
  • Typing and transcription skills
  • Able to work quickly without sacrificing quality of work

Desirable criteria include:

  • Experience in an office environment
  • Case management system experience
